“A what?” Eleanor asked.
“A digital devil. They stalk their prey. They find out their secrets. Love, do you use AI?”
“That’s the thing. I don’t go anywhere near that.”
Vaino thought for a moment. “Do any of your friends use AI?”
“No.”
A knock interrupted them. Eleanor answered it only to be surprised by Grimshaw Lincoln.
“Grim,” Eleanor breathed.
“Sorry to bother you, Miss Flowers.”
Vaino stood up. “I see you have company,” Grim narrowed his eyes.
“Don’t be prejudiced, Grim,” Eleanor called him out.
“Now, let’s get back to the matter at hand. Why are you here?”
“Shawn Paul is on the loose. He inserted an illegal power into my brother Advisor’s veins,” Grim explained.
“You mean he did that to Melody Marks?” Vaino raised an eyebrow.
“How do you know who she is?” Eleana questioned him.
“It’s all over the newspapers,” Vaino responded, but Grim was looking at Vaino as if he didn’t trust him.
“Thank you, Mr. Lincoln,” Eleanor said.
“I guess that’s my cue to exit,” Grim closed the door softly.
“Darling, what was that just now with you and Grim?” Vaino searched her face.
“It doesn’t matter.”
“It matters to me, but if you don’t wish to tell your story, I will always respect that.”
“Thank you.”
